Photo Sessions

Thanks to some recent inquiries about my photography, I’ve decided to add a page dedicated to photo sessions. I’m really excited about this and appreciate you stopping by to check it out!

Me + Photography =

Photography has been a lifetime love of mine. I have albums upon albums of photos from my childhood on. I think the passion stems from two things. First, I love pretty things. Simple as that. Second, I’ve always described myself as a visual learner. I need to see things in order to “get” them. The only problem is, when things change, I can often identify that they’re different but I can’t always bring back the image of what was there before. In my attempts to remember those moments, I capture them in photographs.

I bought my first SLR (you know, what I like to call “fancy” cameras) in college before spending a semester abroad. It was a film camera. Remember those? It was great and got me totally hooked. The only problem was, it was difficult (and expensive!) to experiment with taking full control of what the camera could do. Fast forward to 2008 when I decided to switch to a digital SLR. That definitely helped my progress but it really wasn’t until a year ago that I finally learned to operate my camera in full manual mode. What that means is, I’m now controlling the camera and the images it gives me instead of the other way around. So much better.

But here’s where you come in!

I want to keep practicing and growing as a photographer and would LOVE the opportunity to capture you, your family, and your moments in beautiful images. If you’re willing, here’s what I propose:

Session Fees – While I’m still learning, I won’t be charging any upfront session fees.

Prints & DVDs – After the session, you’ll have the opportunity to purchase prints through an online proofing site and/or a DVD of the final images that you can then use however you wish. The cost of the prints will vary based on size and the cost of the DVD will vary based on the number of images I’m able to offer. However, in a standard portrait session (newborn, child, maternity, senior, or whatever!), I’d hope to offer between 20 and 30 final images for $50.

Location/Travel Fees – We’ll work together to pick out the perfect light-filled location for the kind of images you’re after. However, given the ever rising cost of gas and the extra time incurred, a small travel fee will apply for distances greater than 20 miles from Oak Park, IL.

Additional examples of my work are available upon request but, in the meantime, it doesn’t seem right to have a photo sessions page without at least a few of my favorite images from this year!
